Inclusive participation for inclusive public space
Inclusive design often relies on targeted, inclusive participation during the design process. Without the engagement of target users, the design of a space likely will not match the needs of its users. However, engaging with users, especially vulnerable groups, is not necessarily easy.
In this presentation, we propose to discuss the value of inclusive participation, challenges of inclusive participation, and ideas for overcoming these challenges. We will ground the discussion in an example project on transport poverty that our team recently completed in Altena. Through this project, we demonstrated the value and importance of different approaches of engaging with target groups.
