Green parking starts below the surface
Public spaces are facing growing challenges. Climate adaptation, water management, biodiversity, heat stress and the increasing pressure on available space require smart solutions that do more than simply provide a paved surface.
For more than 15 years, TONN has been working on making outdoor spaces more sustainable and functional. With TAWWA Grid, we developed and supply a circular, Dutch-produced open paving system made from 100% recycled plastic sourced from Dutch waste streams.
But the grid is only one part of the solution.
The real value lies in the system as a whole: a load-bearing foundation, the right sub- and filling substrates, water infiltration, sufficient space for root development and a healthy soil structure in which vegetation can actually thrive. This allows parking areas, service areas, passing lanes and reinforced verges to become both functional and green.
That is why we believe green parking is not a product, but a system.
We work closely with municipalities, landscape architects, engineering firms, contractors, landscaping companies, developers and other partners who want to create more climate-resilient outdoor spaces.
With hundreds of projects completed across the Netherlands, we know that a sustainable solution must do more than look good on paper. It has to work in practice — technically, ecologically and aesthetically.
