Climate change is presenting cities with major challenges. Intense rainfall events are causing urban flooding, while extended periods of drought and heat are leading to drying vegetation and a less liveable public environment. This vision comes together in the ACO Green City concept. Within this integrated system, rainwater management and urban greenery are directly connected. Rainwater falling on roofs, streets, and public squares is not discharged into the sewer system, but instead collected, filtered, and stored for use by trees, plants, and other green infrastructure.
The result is an intelligent water cycle in which retention, infiltration, conveyance, and reuse are continuously aligned. The system helps prevent flooding, supports healthy tree growth, reduces urban heat stress, and enhances biodiversity. At the same time, it restores the natural water cycle as much as possible, making urban areas more resilient to the impacts of climate change.

Urban development is increasingly moving from linear to circular systems, from grey to blue-green infrastructure, and from standalone applications to integrated solutions.
