Rainwater management is part of almost every project in the public realm: new-build developments, redevelopment schemes and industrial sites alike. The questions are familiar: where is water stored, how does it move from one point to the next, and under what conditions can it return to the ground. HAURATON has been thinking through those questions for over 70 years, with expertise spanning drainage, treatment, infiltration and retention.

What we do

HAURATON develops and supplies solutions for surface water management: from linear drainage channels and connecting channels to filter substrate, infiltration crates and retention systems. Not as standalone products, but as part of an integrated system that guides rainwater to where it belongs: infiltrated locally, temporarily retained, or discharged in a controlled way. Exactly the theme this year's trade fair puts centre stage: surface water drainage and storage.

Why we do this

Discharging rainwater straight into a sewer is no longer a given. Increasingly intense rainfall, longer dry spells and sewer systems that, in many places, were never designed for today's heavy storms all make surface solutions essential. Water that infiltrates locally keeps soil healthy and the surrounding area liveable. Visible water in a swale or channel also does more than provide storage: it cools the environment, supports biodiversity, and shows at a glance exactly what a downpour does.

Who we work with

HAURATON supports local authorities, consulting engineers, contractors and businesses on rainwater projects across every type of public space: new residential areas, redevelopment schemes and industrial sites. Every location calls for its own balance of space, soil, water quality and regulation. There is rarely a single right answer, but there is a consistent way of thinking: understand the site first, then define the water's route, and only then select the system that fits.
